Jared Eubanks inducted into Leadership Institute of Acadiana

Leadership Institute of Acadiana is a non-profit that puts on programs to grow and foster leadership skills within the community.

Our very own, Jared Eubanks, was recently inducted into this program. Let's hear from him a few words about this program and his involvement with it as well as his involvement in the Lafayette community.

"I am currently excited to be enrolled in Class XXXIX of Leadership Lafayette. Leadership Lafayette is their flagship program. We are members of Leadership of Acadiana and can stay as alumni members. The board of the group is primarily former program graduates.

Our class, 26 individuals, meets formally once a month usually to engage with a panel of local leaders to discuss broad topics. We’ve also done some group volunteering and have another day of such coming up outside of the primary program days.

Example: Our local government day we met with a few panels:

  1. The City/Parish President (that’s Lafayette’s Mayor and Parish/County President role rolled up together) and a few mayors from the other municipalities.
  2. 4 Council members from our parish/city councils
  3. The city Police Chief, Sheriff, and a city judge.
  4. The City Assessor, Local Paper Editor, Local League of Women Voters Head

I have gotten to know several alumni of the program from volunteer work in the community that encouraged me to apply. I was recently elected the treasurer of Festival International de Louisiane, the nations largest international music festival. I stepped down a few months ago from being the treasurer of our Mardi Gras Krewe, which puts on Lafayette’s most over the top ball. I have also volunteered extensively with multiple local campaigns, from individual campaigns like the Mayor-President’s race, to issue campaigns like Fix the Charter that re-defined our city/parish councils in Lafayette, and smaller issues like the dedicated downtown sales tax.

Mostly I am just excited to meet other like-minded people in our community and find new ways to get involved and hopefully keep pushing the needle forward in our “big small town”. "

Congratulations Jared - we look forward to seeing you lead Lafayette and represent UVL well!
